About Krisjanis & Gertrude:

We have modelled our service and facilities on the best Bed & Breakfast available in British provincial towns.  That means a clean, tasteful and individually decorated room,  a comfortable bed, TV, tea and coffee making facilities in the room, breakfast. Most rooms have an en-suite bathroom, with either a bath or shower.

The name was chosen because we are on the crossing of Krisjana Barona iela and Gertrudes iela. Krisjanis Barons is well known historical figure in Riga. He collected and categorised Latvian folk songs, and occupies the equivalent position in Latvian history to Cecil Sharp in British. The former home of Krisjanis Barons is now a museum . Gertrudes iela is named after the church that stands at the end of the street, and is dedicated to Saint Gertrude of Nivelles, a patron Saint of travellers.
